Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown has announced the death of its 18-month-old Red Panda Clinger. The male was one of the three brothers that arrived at Elmwood Park Zoo from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in the sping of 2015. The zoo said in a press release, that a necropsy did not provide a obvious cause of death. “This is a sad time for all of us,” said Dr. Adam Denish, Elmwood Park Zoo’s veterinarian.
Clinger’s brothers, Shredder and Slash, were given full examinations including X-ray and blood tests. Both Red Pandas are in a good health.

According to Philly.com the young Red Panda had meningoencephalitis, a brain disease likely caused by a parasite.
