RZSS Highland Wildlife Park’s Red Panda brothers N’mai and Nam Pang emerge for the first time. They were born on 14 June to their parents Kitty and Kevyn and have started to spend time outside their den.

Part of European Breeding Programme

N’mai and Nam Pang are the third litter of Red Pandas born at the Scottish zoo since the arrival of an adult pair in 2012 and part of the European Breeding Programme (EEP).

“The birth of N’mai and Nam Pang is a direct result of a specific breeding recommendation from the species coordinator who is based in Rotterdam Zoo”, says Douglas Richardson, Head of Living Collections at RZSS Highland Wildlife Park.

Two names, two rivers

The Red Panda brothers are named after rivers in Myanmar, one of the regions where Red Pandas have their habitat.
