Two female Red Pandas named Chabine and Dorée are the newest arrivals to the zoo of the Caribbean island group Guadeloupe. A few weeks ago they were able to move into their newly built home right next to the visually not quite dissimilar raccoons.
Guadeloupe is a French overseas territory and part of the European Union. It is also a member of EAZA (“European Association of Zoos and Aquaria”).
As part of the Red Panda Protection Program, the Red Pandas moved from Aalborg Zoo in Denmark, more than 7,000 km away, to Basse-Terre, one of Guadeloupe’s main islands.
