Symbio Wildlife Park’s 8-year-old female Red Panda, Kesari, has died. It had escaped from the Zoo near Sydney after a tree fell on her enclosure. The Red Panda was hit by a vehicle on the nearby M1 Princess highway Thursday. According to a statement by Symbio Wildlife Park, cars slowed down to allow Kesari to cross. However, a motorist overtook the slowing vehicles and hit the Red Panda in the process.
As a result, Kesari suffered several serious injuries and had to be euthanized after a veterinary examination.
Kesari gave birth to a total of five Red Pandas – one of the births was covered by Red Pandazine.
