Zoo Boise (Idaho) plans to expand and improve its enclosures in the coming years. Phase 1 of the Master Plan, which is set to begin this year, includes the new, very natural habitat for the Red Pandas. They will share their new home with the flying foxes.

According to local news site Boisedev, the project is in the “final design phase now and is expected to take two to three years.” The estimated cost of the project is about $1.1 million (about 930,000 euros).

The architecture of the new facility is to be designed in “Asian style” and will offer the Red Pandas many climbing structures. Visitors will also have the opportunity to observe the Red Pandas “behind the scenes”.
