Zoo Staff Thwart Red Panda Heist

Two men attempt to steal the animal from a zoo in Nepal.

Two masked men attempted to steal an endangered Red Panda from the Central Zoo in Lalitpur, Nepal, by breaching its security on Tuesday evening, reports the Kathmandu Post.

Fortunately, they fled the scene when zoo staff noticed them.

The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, as Red Pandas are often targeted for their fur and skin.

Red Pandas are a protected species under various conservation laws in Nepal.
